Our flat is tiny.
I think Nat the Fat Rat (discussing Manhattan real estate) said something recently-ish that struck a chord with me here in London:
“you know how there’s this one part of arizona where you can stand in four states all at once?
my living room is sort of like that. you stand here, and simultaneously you’re also standing in the kitchen, the foyer, the hallway, the oven, and the shower.”
Except in our case, you’re standing in the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, the office, the laundry room and the rabbit hutch. Oh, and the library if you want to be fancy and call our book shelf that. Heck, we have a big basket of board games so let’s just call it the games room too. It’s also our guest bedroom.
Anyway. You know what a tiny living roo
m/kitchen/dining room/office/laundry room needs? A mahoosive clock.
So we bought this one for each other for Valentine’s day. What do you think? Too big? Or just ridiculous enough? In all honesty, I think it’s a touch too big, but I hope we won’t live in such tiny quarters all our lives so we might be alright, eh?
Oh and there’s possibly my favourite thing in our flat just underneath it… our printer’s tray. We bought it for €15 in a big barn full of old furniture on holiday in France last year. They had so many… I wish we’d bought more to give as presents.
At the moment it’s full of favourite things and a few bits of toot too (we’re trying to build it slowly and it in the meantime it’s got some piles of coins etc in it).
I found this old doll’s leg whilst gardening in my old house. Isn’t it fabulous? I wear it as a necklace when I’m feeling “kooky”
PS. check out the time on the clock… how’d you like THAT for speedy blogging??
